And it looks fun.

It’s not 12 CDs for a penny, but it is a bi-monthly delivery of vinyl.

Here are the details, straight from the source:

“Every other month, A&C Record Club members will receive a package with one brand new release and one classic Arts & Crafts title. Subscriptions start at $21/month with free shipping. If you already own the record we send you, you can swap it for free. Members also receive 25% off all store items.”

Ooh, what’s in the store that you can apply your 25% discount on? We wrote a post about that for you here.

Now back to details from Arts & Crafts:

“Over its almost 20 years as a record label, Arts & Crafts has built one of the most storied and dynamic catalogues in contemporary Canadian music: A collection of indie classics from Broken Social Scene, Feist, Jason Collett, and Stars, era-defining voices like Gord Downie, Hayden, and Sarah Harmer, essential singer-songwriters like Dan Mangan, Tim Baker, Hannah Georgas, Frazey Ford, and Andy Shauf, genre-bending iconoclasts like nêhiyawak and TR/ST, and adventurous instrumentalists like Jean-Michel Blais, Jacques Greene, BADBADNOTGOOD, and Kid Koala.

To help keep your record collection up-to-date, Arts & Crafts is now offering a subscription service to a limited number of users for $21/month. Six times a year, members will receive a package with two records: one brand new title and one must-own title from the Arts & Crafts catalogue.”

SOLD. I just signed up. I’m going to show you what comes in the mail when it arrives. Get excited. Get subscribed. Get as amped as I am. It’s fun.

Some details:

  • There are no additional shipping costs.
  • The service is currently available just in Canada but hopes to expand (join their mailing list for updates)
  • If you already have the album they sent you, then yay, now you have doubles! Or you can swap it for one of their five pre-determined alternative titles.
  • Why do they send out two records every two months instead of a record each month? It’s to minimize shipping costs. Or as A&C puts it: “What is better than getting one record in the mail? Answer: Getting two records in the mail!”
This is happening!

Verdict: Genius.
Review: Pending.
Unboxing Video: Totally happening.
